Robert Kafes entry: back to top |
Bob Braun – I attended Jenks from first to eighth grade from 1948-56. My parents owned a patent medicine store and soda fountain at the corner of Germantown and Duval. My brother, Buddy, who is four years younger, and I took the 23 trolley to school every morning except when we moved to Washington Lane and Chew (when I was in eighth grade and E. Arabella Turney – we used to joke about her initials, EAT because she was so, uh, hefty -- was our teacher), and then we took the Reading Railroad. It was a splendid walk to school particularly in the fall when the dazzlingly colorful leaves were falling. Robert Kafes |
