Gerri (Miller) Bender entry: back to top |
Thanks for posting my information, Michael. I suppose I should have given more personal information, so here it is! I live in Hatboro, Pennsylvania and have been married to the same guy for almost 22 years. We have two sons. The older one is 20 and a sophomore at the University of Delaware. The younger one is 17 and a junior at Upper Moreland High School. I went to Kent State University in Ohio and have my degree in Elementary and Special Education (do you think I was influenced to become a teacher from my days at Jenks?) I have been a substitute teacher at the Upper Moreland Middle School for 12 years. I don't want to teach full-time, because on the weekends I am a Disc Jockey! I have been spending my weekends on and off for the past 25 years entertaining people. Although I do love teaching Middle School, DJ'ing is my passion. I am also fortunate to be on the radio, Sunday Evenings from 7:00-10:00 PM, on a small community station called WRDV-FM. We even have a website, so anyone can listen. It's www.wrdv.org. I've been playing all those great 60's and 70's songs no one plays much anymore, and have been doing it since 1992. I would definitely be interested in helping to put a reunion together and if you decide to, I could promote it on the radio. Let me know!! Thanks again for all of your hard work on this website! |

What an awesome site!!!! It was sent to me by an old camp friend (Michael Mocenter). I didn't know that he had gone there! I was a student at Jenks until May of 1969. We moved near the end of the school year in 1969. I was in 5th grade. I remember so much of my time there! Kaback's drugstore was owned by my Aunt and Uncle, Joe and Evelyn Kaback. Sandi Kaback is my cousin, although we lost touch many years ago. I even remember some of the names of my classmates, but have had no contact with them since those long ago days! What a blast it would be to re-connect! I also have very fond memories of many of the teacher from way back. Mrs. Preston was my Kindergarten teacher. She was the sweetest lady and perfectly suited as a Kindergarten teacher!! I distinctly remember making butter in her class and that she played the piano and taught us a song called "Ice Skating". I remember more about those times than I can remember about the last month!!!! Anyway, don't want to get too long in the tooth, but please let me know how I can be a part of your website.
