David's mom, Mrs. Jane Edenbaum, died early in the week of 6-12 to 6-18 2005. I knew her personally for several years, many in my teen youth as a wonderful, kind and caring person... and that was during the turbulent 60's! Soft spoken warm and gentle, Jane received with grace all she came in contact with. Years later, when I was blessed to have several children, Jane Edenbaum sent them nice little books to read.

All I can say is that I am very sorry at her passing and wish David '68, Ann '64, and Seth their younger brother, a New York artist, all the comfort and peace they can receive at this time.

Cards and letters of support may be sent to; 34 Garrison St Portland, ME 04102 -- Michael

Ah!!! David Sherman, the first politically aware person that I encountered in my early life. And I mean at Jenks, too! David made the comment to me once that "The Student Council is a farce." I think that what David was trying to point out was that for the most part we were merely going over the minutes of the last meeting, rather mechanically in his view, as opposed to having student walk-outs I imagine (smile). Well, I must say I was a changed person after hearing David's insight.

I stay in touch with David... a FiloMaster Chess player. I've stayed in touch with him the whole time since leaving Jenks.

Hello Mr. Giorno...no reason for you to remember me. I'm David Sherman (class of 68). I was in the same class as Michael, Gregory Johnson, Samuel Wyche, Gary Gibbs, Terri Seamon, Wilma Tielkemeijer (I think that's right) Laird Mcgeehee and a bunch of others. My sister Anne was class of 65. I've been following Michael's website as long as it's been around, but this is the first time I've written. I remember your classes very well and learned a lot. And I'll tell you about one thing in particular that I would have learned from someone sooner or later, but as it happens, I learned from you. And it was time. It was probably in music class because it was right after lunch hour. I had been running around the playground for an hour of course. Soon after class started, you walked down the aisle closest to the door in Rm. 22 (nearest the fire escape) and asked Gregory Johnson, me, and one other person to step out into the hall. "One of you gentlemen", (your words) has perhaps forgotten to use deodorant today." All three of us protested that "it couldn't be me!", but one of us protested a little too much. I understood even then that you had not singled me out on purpose, and was very grateful. As I recall you recommended Mennen. One other thing Mr. Giorno. Since 1967 or so, I have written my capital Ss just like that. I learned that from you. Anyway, I'm grateful for all the good years at Jenks. Best regards to you. David Sherman (68)
