"YHVH"
(Yah-hud-vav-hey)

The above gif file was uploaded to Alpha & Omega BBS by a loving brother in the LORD. It is the earliest Hebrew writing of the name of GOD as found in the Old Testament. The English equivalent letters are "YHVH". These four letters are known as the TETRAGRAMMATON, a word meaning "having four letters", and is the proper name for GOD.

That name appears 6579 times in 5556 verses of the original Old Testament scriptures, based on a "the LORD" search of the Old Testament, using "Phrase" criteria, via E-sword available at http://www.e-sword.net. Later, particularly in the King James translation of the scriptures, the name YAHWEH was replaced with the word "LORD", spelled with all capital letters. You should know and understand that this replacement occurred.
